Star skyes, waterfalls, peace and beauty
Nothing to fault.
We had a fantastic few days at Marcs place. He has done an incredible job restoring this beautiful hacienda, it's an oasis of peace and happiness in the middle of the quiet countryside, still only a few minute drive from the cute town of Tavira with great options for dining (try tapas at No de Gosto and fish lunch at Casa Simao) and nice beaches of Isla Tavira (take the ferry). We were so lucky there was only us this time so we got to enjoy the place and pool on our own and have walks to the nearby waterfalls with the lovely dog Cookie. Marc is a wonderful and generous host and if you are not happy here, you won't be happy anywhere.

Absolutely wonderful, and I'd return in a heartbeat.
The only reason for the less than perfect score on staff was because the gentleman who was around at the front desk most of the time didn't speak any English. He was very nice, and this is SUCH a tiny minus in the big scheme of things. Another little thing: Given that there's no on-site restaurant, some kind of simple coffee service would be great (maybe a Keurig with an honor system payment—maybe 1 Euro/cup). They DO have coffee makers, but you don't want to have to buy all the ingredients for coffee if you're just there a few days.
Absolutely lovely place - an oasis just outside of Tavira proper (less than 10 minutes by car). You feel like you're in a desert-style botanical gardens. Fig, pomegranate and other fruit-bearing trees are all around, in addition to jasmine and other fragrant blooming plants. Short hiking trails wind through the property. Communal kitchen was a wonderful perk, and we used it for prepping a wonderful meal we made at the big outside grills next to the pool (bought fresh fish at the market). Plus the multiple fridges in the kitchen made it easy to keep perishables for one's breakfasts and snacks. The pool was glorious - big, clean and refreshing. We were there in early October, and weather was absolutely perfect. 80's F during the day, and sweater at night. Tavira is a lovely town, but I didn't miss being right in the heart of it. It was close enough, and it was so nice to get back to this quiet sanctuary. Plus, it was so reasonably priced for what you got, you felt like you were getting away with something! I found the place, and my fellow travelers couldn't stop talking about how smart I was to find such an amazing place... ;) The cater a lot to groups, and you can see why. It's an ideal set-up!
